If you plan to tow the van yourself, you must be sufficiently experienced with towing in order to be covered in the event of an accident. Please share your towing experience as part of your booking request.
Additionally, your vehicle must have the following:
1) A towing capacity of at least 2.5 tonnes. Check with your vehicle's owner's manual what your maximum towing capacity is if you're not sure
2) A 7 pin flat socket like this to accept the caravan wiring connector: https://www.jaycar.com.au/7-pin-flat-trailer-socket/p/PS2051. If your vehicle has a different connector, we do have some adapters available for hire (please contact us if you're interested), or you can supply your own.
3) An electric brake controller and towing mirrors, however we have both available for hire if you don't have either of these. See the 'Optional Extras' section when you make your booking.
4) A standard 50mm tow ball.
If you're not sure just send us a message, or select the Deliver option and we can likely deliver it to site for you. ๐
INCLUDED DISTANCE?
-------------------
If you're towing it yourself, your hire fee includes 150km of travel per day of hire, as tracked by the onboard GPS tracker, and excess kilometres are charged at 20c/km. This helps keep the hire fee reasonable for everyone. You are allowed to travel more than 150km in a single day, so long as the total distance across your whole trip is less than 150km x the number of days of your hire. For example, a 5 day booking would give you 750km included (150km x 5 days) to use however you want throughout your trip.
OFF-ROAD USE CONDITIONS:
-------------------------
This is a semi off-road van, and some of the best places in Australia are accessed via dirt roads, gravel roads or tracks. However these types of surfaces invariably put vehicles at a higher risk of damage than on sealed roads, and incurs greater wear and tear on a vehicle's tyres, suspension and other components. While this wear may not be obvious from your trip (i.e. nothing may actually break during your trip), the wear will nonetheless have occurred and will necessitate repairs down the track (e.g. additional stress on springs will eventually cause them to break). As such, special conditions apply for off-road use.
1) You must provide us an itinerary of your intended route and the types of roads this entails when you place your booking
2) You must be sufficiently experienced with the type of roads you'll be travelling
3) Subject to 1) and 2), an additional off-roading fee may be charged to cover the increased wear the van will sustain while on dirt roads. This will depend on the conditions of the road and the duration of your booking, but will usually be $25-$100/day depending on the situation.
4) Any departure from the agreed itinerary or road types, as per the GPS tracker, may incur additional charges
5) Off-road use without permission will result in off-road charges being applied to your booking
